Comments on Hjartdalsoga, Gard og Ætt Sauland Band IIIa I have made the following observations about information contained in Band IIIA but leave it to others with access to more resources than I to determine If these are errors or not. I have tried to be as specific as possible in identifying my observations and comments so that they are as useful as possible to those who may want to check the information. 1. Page 157, Bakkan, 1) Harald Haraldson BakkanlNordbø, child #8 Ingrid f. 1855. Comment: I believe that Hjartdal Church Book 8, page 6 shows her birth date as 12 January 1856 and her baptism as 03 February 1856. 2. Page 1931 Nord-Hovland, 5) Anund Tomasson Egderud/Hovland, chiId #8 Ingebjørg f 1759. Comment: I believe that Hjartdal Church Book #3, page 86 right side shows her baptismal date as 03 December 1758. 3. Page 405, Nordbø, VII) Harald Torjusson, child Jon f ca 1655, sjå øvre-Nordbø. Comment: I believe that the number 1 is missing and that øvre-Nordbø is in error and it should say "1 Jon f ca. 1655, sjå Nedre-Nordbø." 4. Page 405, Nordbø, VII) Harald Torjusson, child 2 Torjus f ca. 1678, sjå NedreNordbø. Comment: I believe that it should say"sjå øvre-Nordbø" (page 411) I also wonder about the accuracy of his birth year, 1678, If his brother, Jon, was born in 1655. It seems like a long time between births unless several other children were born and died during this interval. 5. Page 405, Nedre-Nordbø, 1) Jon Haraldson Nordbø, Tvillingane 2 Harald f 1703 d.s.å og 3 Anne f 1703 d.s.å. Comment: While I do not find this set of twins in the Hjartdal Church Book, I do find in Church Book 1, page 110 twins "HaraI og Anon" born to Jon Haraldson 13 April 1708 and buried 15 April 1708 at 2 days of age. Did Jon's wife give birth to two sets of twins or are Harald and Anne being confused with Haral and Anon? 6. Page 405, Nedre-Nordbø, 1) Jon Haraldson Nordbø, child #5 Harald (page 406) f 1710, sjå 4). Comment: I believe that "sjå 4)" should say "sjå 3)." 7. Page 406, Nedre-Nordbø, 3) Harald Jonson Nordbø, glg 1745 m Eli Olsdtr. Håtveit. Comment: I believe that Hjartdal Church Bcok #4, Page 22 left side shows that this couple was engaged 02 December 1745 and married 03 January 1746. 8. Page 406, Nedre-Nordbø, 3) Harald Jonson Nordbø, child 5 Ragnhild f 1751 d.s.å. Comment: I believe that Hjartdal Church Book #3, Page 129 right side shows that she was buried 13 January 1752. She may have died in 1751 and not be buried until 1752. 9. Page 407, Nedre-Nordbø, 4) Harald Haraldson Nordbø, d 1754. Comment: I believe that the "d 1754" should say "f 1754." 10. Page 407, Nedre-Nordbø, 4) Harald Haraldson Nordbø, child 11 Anund f 1798 uvisst om han levde opp. Comment: I believe that Hjartdal Church Book #5, Page 199 shows that Aanon Haraldsen died 26 October 1798 at 4 1/2 weeks of age and was buried 28 October 1798. 11. Page 407, Nedre-Nordbø, 4) Harald Haraldson Nordbø. Comment: I believe that Hjartdal Church Book #5, Page 251 shows that an Aanon was born to Harald Haraldsen Nordbø and baptized 29 January 1786 and on Page 261 Aanon's burial is recorded as 01 April 1892 at 6 years 2 months of age. This child is not shown on page 407. 12. Page 407, Nedre-Nordbø, 4) Harald Haraldson Nordbø Comment: I believe that Hjartdal Church Book #5, Page 248 shows that an Elen was born to Harald Haraldsen Nordbø and baptized 02 March 1788 and on Page 271 Elen burial is recorded as 15 May 1788 at 11weeks of age. This child is not shown on page 407. 13. Page 407, Nedre-Nordbø, 5) Harald Haraldson Nordbø, child 5 Ola f 1819 til Jelsa i 1838. Comment: The Hjartdal Church Book #15, Page 291 shows the whole family (father, mother, and all five of their children) moved from Hjartdal to Stavanger Amt. Their leaving papers were dated 16 November 1825. The Hjelmeland Church Book #6, Page 96 shows that Ola was confirmed here 11 October 1835. The Hjartdal Church Book for 1838 shows that Ole Haraldsen and Amund Haraldsen obtained their leaving papers on 24 May 1838 to go to Jelsa Parish. So evidently Ola moved to Stavanger Amt in 1825 with his parents; then returned to Hjartdal sometime after he was confirmed in 1835; and then returned to Jelsa again in 1838. The Fister Church Book #2, Page 158 shows Ola died there 14 May 1884. 14. Page 407, Nedre-Nordbø, 5) Harald Haradlson Nordbø, child 6 Anund f 1821 til Jelsa 11838. Comment: See Comment for #10 above. Jelsa Church Book #6, Page 310 shows that Aamond Haraldsen was confirmed in Jelsa 21 October 1838 and Page 455 shows Aamen Haraldsen married Aase Isaksdatter 15 September 1849. Jelsa Chruch Book 3B, Page 158 shows he died 08 February 1890. 15. Page 457, øvre-Håtveit, V) Aslak Olson Gvåle/Håtveit, Sjå IV). Comment: I believe that this should say "Sjå VI)." 16. Page 458, øvre-Håtveit, VIII) Ola Sveinson Håtveit, child 1 Eli f 1725 d før 1760. Comment: I believe that Hjartdal Church Book #3, Page 133 left side shows that Eli Olsdatter was buried in August 1760 and died at age 35 years of age.
Comments on Hjartdalsoga, Gard og Ætt Sauland Band II 1. Page 175, Nord-Mosebø, 1) Bjørn Såmundson Mosebø, child 11 missing. Comment: I believe that Hjartdal Church Book #2 for Sauland Annex, Page 7 shows that Halvor was born to Biørn Mosebø and baptized 14 past Trinity or 29 August 1717 and that Halvor is not induded in the listing of children born to Bjørn Såmundson Mosebø.
